Located only a short distance from downtown Montreal, La Maison de Prière Notre-Dame is an oasis of contemplation in the city. Run by the Sisters of Notre-Dame (founded by St. Marguerite Bourgeoys), the Maison is a place of silence and prayer.
The Maison offers simple yet comfortable accommodations, nourishing meals and inviting grounds for walking and reflecting.
La Maison de la Prière merits its chosen moniker: “un Monastère sur la rue.” - a monastery on the street.
Discover Cistercian Abbey, Rougemont.
The Maison de Prière Notre-Dame is a veritable monastery on the street, promoting spiritual development throught silence and prayer.
The spartan but comfortable rooms invite us to simplicity and help us to focus on the Word of God.
You are welcome to walk about the grounds. A large park bordering the St. Lawrence River is also within walking distance.
Meals are taken in silence together in the main refectory. Although a bit awkward for the first-timer, one soon begins to enjoy the "camaraderie of silence" this affords.
